I bought this book after reading the rave reviews that it recieved and I was disappointed. One review compared it in part to Donna Tartt's The Secret History whilst another compared it to Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose which led me to wonder if these critics had even read these books. This book tries to be a puzzle, thriller, murder mystery and a coming of age novel. It fails in all these aspects except perhaps the puzzle aspect which is just about enough to get you through it if you have absolutely nothing else to do.
